Lightning strikes. Life blows up a bit. Things don’t seem to
be going so well, at least as far as what we can see. Will we still be joyful?
Will we keep on praying? Will we still find reasons to thank God?
“Always be
joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is
God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18,
NLT)
Life is often hard. Sometimes it looks
pretty much impossible to remain joyful. But this Scripture doesn’t look like a
gentle suggestion. It’s more like a mandate, complete with an “always” and a “never.”
There’s not much wiggle room in these verses. So is it possible?
