What’s the best Christmas gift you ever
received? Can you remember? No matter what it was, I’d bet nothing Santa Claus
delivered even comes close to the many blessings of God.
And, while we’re at it, doesn’t every
blessing come from God anyway? At least, that’s what the Bible says:
“Every good and
perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17, NIV)
From our daily bread to many seen and
unnoticed rescues, God’s gifts shower all over us. Maybe we don’t observe them
all the time, but they are there. I wonder sometimes if we’ll have a chance to
see a replay in Heaven of the many blessings we overlooked or failed to see
during our mortal lifetimes. Wouldn’t that be an amazing thing to watch?
At the risk of sounding somewhat trite, can
we simply say that God takes the naughty (which is all of us) and turns it into
nice. No gift could ever compare to that!
