What God Wants

(Micah 6 – 7)

Forgiven

By Thomas Blackshear II

What does it take to please the Lord?

The Old Testament minor prophet Micah penned a single verse that sums up a deep desire of the God, regarding His children. Although we may ponder the will of the Lord and question our own convictions, this short passage succinctly summarizes how we may honor Jehovah most.

“He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

(Micah 6:8, NIV)

How has God spoken to you through His Word today? Has He impressed this verse upon your heart? Has the Lord inspired you to memorize Micah 6:8?

Here’s a simple acrostic the Lord gave me today, based upon Micah 6:8.

The Power of One –

Key to Pleasing God

Trying to scale

Heaven’s heights alone

Escapes every mortal man.

Pleasing God

Only takes

Wisdom’s own

Eyes, opened wide to

Reflect His unfathomable grace.

Omniscient and sure, the

Father sees all.

Out of love for God and others,

Needing His mercy ourselves

Each may please the Lord.

Will you pray with me?

Precious One,

We desire to please You.

Thank You for Your Word,

Which clearly points out

The simplicity of Your desire

For justice and mercy,

Even as You are just

And merciful.

We adore You.

Amen.

  3. Linda this was so very beautiful and inspiring. I felt like praying after I read it ... as a matter of fact I think I will get Vannah and we will get down on our knees and thank God for his blessings. Indeed, the power of one.
