Here’s
a Neoclassic painting of Mary and Baby Jesus and a trio of musical angels that
I find simply sweet. It’s possibly not exactly a nativity painting, as the Baby
appears a little past the newborn stage, but it still seems to fit nicely in
this series.
Isn’t
it lovely how tenderly the three angels gather near the mother and Child to
surround them with what must have been a celestial song? Truly, the Baby Jesus
seems to be sleeping in heavenly peace.
The Song of the
Angels, by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, 1881
