Today’s
nativity image pick comes from the 16th century Peruvian Cuzco School
of artistic tradition (Escuela Cuzquena). Artists from this genre were
generally Jesuit. Most were of Italian or Spanish descent. All of these
ancestral threads may be seen in the apparel of those pictured, as well as the
flavor of the scene.
