Ointment
for the Overwhelmed– Bible First-Aid from A to Z
How easy it is to feel overwhelmed and overcome by outrageous opposition, obligations, or even options!
What testing times these are!
Sometimes it feels like it’s easier to stick with God on the big issues, the
major life decisions, and the life-or-death situations we may encounter. But
little details of life pile up and overwhelm us. That’s when we may be tempted
to step aside, bow out, or buckle under pressure.
SOS!
You’ve probably
heard the old quip people love to share in such moments, when we are stretched
beyond what we think we can stand. Sure, God only gives us what He knows we can
handle. And He often seems to have a lot more confidence in us than we do.
Even when we are
feeling overwhelmed, He knows. He sticks around to guide us through. And sometimes,
He even shows us a safety exit, right when we need it, especially if we are
paying attention.
And if we miss the boat, He calls us back.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13, New International Version)
Often overwhelmed?
You bet.
Ruled out? No way.

Great post and reminder that we can handle more than we think we can and feeling "overwhelmed" I've learned is often self-imposed. If I step back and look at what really needs to get done and who/what my top 3 priorities are in any given day I realize getting them done is enough. Even God didn't create the world in a day, right?! :-)
ReplyDeleteGod believes in us far more than we believe in ourselves. We just need to let Him be the one in control and all things are possible!
ReplyDeleteBut we are human and we forget, and do get overwhelmed.
