With wild winds
whirling in this weekend, heralding the coming winter, I was tempted to linger
under my favorite quilt this morning. Waking up after a wonderful Thanksgiving
feast, I relished the soft warmth of my flannel pajamas and a much-loved coverlet.
Sure the hearty
hugs of extended family at Thanksgiving gatherings are most welcomed. Friendly
conversations over fine foods prepared in love speak volumes to one’s spirit.
But there’s
something special about curling up in coziness on a blustery November morning,
especially in a hand-made quilt, created by a loved one.
Ah, the
comfort.
What is it about
snuggling under a cozy quilt that sends both the winter cold and the chill
within one’s own spirit to flee?
Maybe it’s the
sweetness of feeling enveloped in comfort that chases worries and leaves us
feeling snug and secure. Such moments give us a tiny taste of God’s own
affection for us. After all, His own Spirit is our Comforter.
I will ask the Father,
and He will give you another Comforter
(Counselor, Helper, Intercessor,
Advocate, Strengthener, and
Standby),
that He may remain with you forever.”
(John 14:16, AMP)
Praise Him, the
Lover of our souls and the God of all comfort!
For what
are you thankful?
