Parents
who love their kids really love to be loved by their kids. We adore our
youngsters, and we rejoice when they adore us back.
How
much more does God desire that His children love Him, as His love is so much
greater than anything we human parents might muster? As much as we love our
kids, we cannot even imagine the depths of how much God loves.
It
may take us all of eternity to realize how much God loves us … and to love Him
with all we are. And it will be more than worth it.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39, NIV)
Today’s
passage is known as the Great Commandment. But I am pretty sure, once we see
God as He really is, we won’t need the reminder. All else will fall away, and
we will fully love Him, for we will know Him fully.
Adored One, You are YHVH Elohim, the Lord God (see Genesis 2:4). We
cherish You and adore You and honor Your holy name. And, above all we might
pray for our children, we ask that they would come to love You with their whole
hearts, souls, and minds. We pray that our kids would give their lives to You,
to follow You forever. And we intercede for them that they might love their
neighbors as themselves for Your glory. We ask in faith
and in the name of our wonderful Lord, Your Son Jesus Christ.
