15 Scripture memory tips: 5) Memorize en masse

Lots of believers try this tactic for storing up sections of Scripture, from small groups to entire church congregations. Our church, for example, offers free stacks of Bible memory cards each year. These include all of the weekly suggested verses, which correspond to the pastoral sermon series.

The selected Bible verses also appear in the printed bulletins each Sunday.

No one is tested on these verses, at least in our church’s program. But the camaraderie of the shared effort seems to draw us along.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25, NIV)

Sharing Scripture memory goals can be one way to spur one another towards deeper devotion to God and care for each other.
