Unforgotten and Unforsaken
(Jeremiah 34:8-22; 49:34-39; 50:41-46; 51:1-64)
Ignoring You
Photographer Unknown
Jeremiah persisted in proclaiming the prophecies of the Lord to the people of God. He urged them to return to faithfulness to the covenant of Jehovah. He pleaded with God’s children to reject the pagan practices of their Babylonian captors. And he reminded them of the faithfulness of the Lord, even though the people often refused to listen to the word of the Lord.
For even when man is unfaithful, God is faithful still.
“For Israel and Judah have not been forsaken
by their God, the L0rd Almighty,
though their land is full of guilt
before the Holy One of Israel.”
God never changes, despite the inconsistencies and iniquities of those He has created. Although we may fail Him, as we often do, He promises never to fail us. God is always present, and He always listens to those who cry out to Him.
What a great and gracious God we have!
Holy One,
We thank You
For Your unchanging faithfulness.
You are true, even when we are false.
You are right, even when we are wrong.
You are gracious, even when we are graceless.
You are merciful, even when we are spiteful.
You are just, even when we are unjust.
You are holy, even when we sin.
You are all we need.
Amen.
